Why men cheat and how to avoid it

Men tend to cheat more than women do in relationships, and while women often chalk that fact up to a man having a stronger sex drive, and thus the need to fulfill it outside of their relationships, this is not always the case, in fact, it only accounts for a very small percentage of the reasons why men cheat. The following are some of the reasons men cheat, and how to avoid it:

Reason for cheating: To show themselves they still have it. Men need to boost their ego on occasion, which means that if they are feeling unattractive, old, or just want to see if they still have the charm and ability to get a woman where they want her, they may be inclined to cheat. It may have absolutely nothing to do with you, or an inadequacy that you have, it is more a way of making them feel good about themselves.
How to avoid it: Keep their ego fueled. It may sound silly, but just like you need to hear that you look nice, that your hair is great, etc. a man wants to hear that he still has it. If he has had trouble satisfying you (aka helping you reach climax), you may want to thank him anyway, or let him know how great he is. A man has to feel important, so make sure that his ego gets the stroking it needs, whether it is about in the bedroom, or about his smarts, athletic ability, or looks. Help him feel good about himself, and he won't need someone else to help him.
Reason for cheating: Want to feel needed. A lot of times in a relationship life gets busy, and so your encounters are over the bar in the kitchen, or on the phone as you trade car pool duties, and make plans for the weekend. More and more women are in the work field. Women tend to take on most of the home responsibilities, and often have jobs. This can make men feel like they are only there to contribute to the finances, and for an occasional bout of lovemaking. If he starts to feel like you don't need him, he might look for someone that does.
How to avoid it: You do not have to give up your career, or turn a responsibility over to him that you know he won't do well, but you do need to make sure he knows how much you need him. Call him every now and then just to hear his voice and let him know you love him. Tell him you need him.
Reason for cheating: Because it was offered. Men often cheat because they can. If someone offers it, they may not resist the temptation because it is an uncommon thing.
How to avoid it: You have to offer sex to him. You have to tell him that you are not going to put up with him accepting other offers. If he thinks about the situation before it occurs, and knows how he will respond, then when it does happen, and the head that is thinking is not the one on his shoulders, he will know to say no.
